Why it's worth it
Recruiters, before everyone else
Firms present to our members every semester, months before campus-wide recruiting opens. Members meet the people who make hiring decisions rather than a booth at a career fair.
Answers from more than one firm
Our panels put recruiters and practitioners from several firms in the same room: what to expect in an interview, what they look for, how to handle multiple offers, and which soft and hard skills move you further. You also hear where the firms disagree, which is the part no single info session gives you.
A network with a long memory
Phi Chapter alumni are across public accounting, industry, government, and banking. Membership is the introduction that still works ten years out.
Service that means something
Chapter-organized volunteer work across Baton Rouge, including tax assistance for families who could not otherwise afford a preparer. It is the part of the year members talk about longest.
Five Steps
From application to initiation
Confirm eligibility
A 3.0 GPA and enrollment in Intermediate Accounting I or beyond. Any eligible Ourso major may apply.
Submit the application
The application is a short Qualtrics form and takes about five minutes. It opens at the start of each fall and spring term.
Attend professional meetings
Meet the attendance requirement by coming to firm presentations and chapter meetings.
Complete service hours
Join chapter-organized volunteer work during the semester.
Pay dues and be initiated
Dues cover your national membership, the catered food at every meeting and panel, and the initiation banquet where you are recognized as a full member.
Internships and full-time roles
Roles from our sponsors reach members directly — announced at professional meetings, sent to the chapter email list, and posted to the chapter LinkedIn. Following the chapter page is the most reliable way to see them as they come in.
